A Professional Profile

Peter Wells was born and educated in the United Kingdom, receiving his architectural degree from the University of London.  He was registered with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 1965 and became a member of the Architects Registration Council of the United Kingdom.  He worked in London on various historic buildings, including Christopher Wren churches and various ecclesiastical, residential, commercial and civic buildings.

Peter accepted a post offered by the British Crown Agents in 1968 and went to the Seychelles (Indian Ocean) to help prepare the colony for independence. During that time he designed many public buildings including hospitals, schools, and hotels.  Peter elected to remain in the Seychelles after his contract with the Government was completed and opened a private practice that he ran for another eight years.

In 1978 he moved to the United States, obtained a NCARB certification and became registered in Connecticut and became a member of the AIA.  Peter worked in the Greater Hartford Area on several historic buildings, libraries, town offices and historic restoration projects until 1987 when he joined King + Tuthill Architects.

Peter has solid experience in working with building committees, municipalities, owners and contractors and has assisted many communities through the fund raising and referendum process. In 1996, Peter became a full partner with Bruce Tuthill and the firms name was changed to Tuthill + Wells Architects.

Peter was the Project Architect for the following projects amongst others and responsible for all phases of the work from preliminary design through construction administration.
