About Us
Bruce Tuthill, Peter Wells and Charles King, joined together in 1986 to form King and Tuthill Architects. They built a strong reputation as a firm in which the partners maintain direct involvement in each project and participate in meetings with clients, building committees, town authorities, and the public from the initial conceptual studies through completion of the project. With the retirement of Charles King in 1996, Peter Wells became a full partner and the name was change to Tuthill and Wells Architects, L.L.C.
The firm specializes in public libraries completing more than 47 library projects in the past 16 years, 28 of which have been major additions and renovations to historic buildings. The effort has been to renovate the facilities for expanding needs with new electronic equipment for today’s technologies, upgrade for current life safety, building and handicapped codes and, when historic buildings are involved to restore them to their original condition. Our ability to analyze the needs of our clients and provide pragmatic and long lasting solutions is applicable to any building type and allows us to select projects which require this expertise, gained over many years of varied practice.
We have a team of consultants that have worked with us for many years from the initial conceptual designs to overseeing construction in the field. Because of our ongoing relationship with these specialist, they function as an integral part of our office when ever needed.
