The Raymond Library is the public library for the Town of East Hartford. The collection has grown to nearly 200,000 volumes and additional space is desperately needed. Plans have now been developed for a 15,000 sf addition to the existing 27,000 sf library. The project has been submitted to the State Library for a construction grant.

The addition will be constructed on the east side of the existing library. It will be 3 stories in height and add a new 7,000 sf Children's library on the Main Floor, a Community Room for 250 people on the Lower Floor and an expanded Reference Area on the Upper Floor. A new elevator will be installed in the existing building to provide access to all portions of the library.
